The world’s largest aviation event goes by many names – AirVenture, Oshkosh, EAA, and for a few lucky aviators, we call it home. Yes, my wife and I are two of that lucky group. AirVenture is SAFE’s biggest effort. Planning has been ongoing since Sun ’n Fun wrapped up, a planning period cut short by a later than normal event in Florida and an earlier event here in Wisconsin. No worries though, SAFE is ready, and ready in a big way for next week’s event.
AirVenture attendees will find the SAFE exhibit in a new location this year – Exhibit Hangar B, booths 2093 and 2094. Not only is the location new, the entire exhibit is new. Participate in either the IFR or VFR challenge and you may be the lucky participant, one in each category, who wins a Bose A20 headset, courtesy of the maker. SAFE members who either join or renew their membership will receive coupons for valuable bonuses from ASA, Sporty’s, and Gleim.
The SAFE banquet will be held on Thursday, July 23 at the Wittman Regional Airport terminal building. A no-host social hour begins at 6:00 and dinner service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Make your reservations on the SAFE website. Banquet sponsors for this year’s event are Sporty’s, Aviation Insurance Resources, Flying magazine, and Starr Companies.
SAFE members are serving as instructors at the Pilot Proficiency Center located east of the air traffic control tower. Of course many SAFE members are conducting forums throughout convention week.
